Is Graphic Design Dead?

1/15/2021

There are a lot of people who might think so. I'm not one of them.

I saw a cartoon that showed an artist standing in front of his boss's desk. His boss was looking at the drawing the artist had completed and asking why he had to pay so much for something that took the artist 10 minutes to do. The artists reply was, "Because it took me 20 years to learn how to do it in 10 minutes, that's why".

With the average employee having a computer and the myriad of free software available it might seem like hiring a graphic designer is a waste of money. After all, any admin can add a lot of fonts and colors to pre-existing templates and create that ad in minutes for their boss. But, ask yourself honestly if that ad adequately follows your established brand identity? Is it using all the pre-approved corporate fonts and adheres to the company current style guide? Is your brand at risk of growing in the wrong direction based on someone's idea of what looks pretty? Those are the types of questions a smart CEO will ask because your brand identity is your main point of communication with your customers. A graphic designer hones in on your identity and keeps your brand intact. Your visual identity deserves to keep it's integrity and only a professional can help you achieve this.

Ideas get stagnant over time. A good graphic designer can help you take a fresh look at your business and offer new perspectives from an outside source. This helps you keep your business going forward and up to date.

This is a changing world and good graphic designers are here to stay as long as fresh ideas and quality work are what smart businesses are looking for.

Let us help you achieve your design goals today. We've been doing this for a long time and we know what works.

The wheels are turning in the think tank here today. I have discovered opportunities to serve my clients with more ideas and tools than last year. Yes, technology is at the helm.
New computer, new software and Apps, faster responses and the integration of these elements.

Hemingway is a new editorial app that assists in sharpening writing skills.

Adobe Creative Cloud 2016 will keep me up to date with all the software I use everyday.

HALO puts me in touch with journalists who are looking for the kind of information I have as a graphic designer. I can reach more publications and people than ever before.

With all these tools and the passion to reach higher goals, I can blog better, create more and reach many.
As 2017 dawns on the horizon, Boni Buchanan Graphic Design sets sail toward the ultimate goal.

Serving you, my client.

People like to talk about how important a small business is to America. There are few who are willing to create one and strive to keep it going especially in a tough economy.

My business is not just a talking point for me; it’s my passion. I strive to provide the best in professional services to my clients at a reasonable cost. I know many of you are struggling to stay afloat.

Not only do I keep my fees affordable... I volunteer for worthwhile causes and for Americans who need help.

If there is work I can do for you which allows me to give and not to only focus on getting, I'm in.

Today is an exciting day and a sad one. With the passing of Steve Jobs I'm filled with many emotions.

I woke up to the news by reading Seth Godin's Blog that Steve had passed. Throughout the day I was filled with a profound sense of sadness and gratitude. Gratitude for what Steve Jobs created, the Apple Macintosh, my right arm and trusted professional friend. I reflected on the first time I ever used a mouse, learned to point, clik and began to experience the joy that is to be a graphic designer using this powerful tool.

Seth wrote a eulogy of action in remembrance of Steve. He persuaded us to go forward and to use our creative abilities to do something with his legacy by our actions.

Today I am launching this new website. In honor of Steve and all the wonderful things I am able to bring to you because of his accomplishments.
